In the village of Conachi, the summer holidays are full of adventure for Ilinca and Ionică, two children who spend their days at their grandparents', summer neighbours for a lifetime. Ilinca is brave, full of energy and always ready for a new adventure. Ionică is shy and rather cautious. It is precisely these differences that make them an irreplaceable team.
One day, Ilinca climbs a tree and has an unexpected encounter with a friendly and very forgetful squirrel. Her invitation to lunch opens the gate to a world hidden from human eyes: the wonderful Veverițeni, full of unusual characters, funny happenings and surprises at every turn.
As they discover this world, Ionică learns to overcome his fears and to look at the unknown with more courage. Alongside Ilinca, he finds that the loveliest adventures begin when you have a friend who believes in you.
The illustrations are made from original paintings by Georgiana Susanu, so every page is a visual journey too.
